Proper use of the TrainText service requires that you send a direct message to @traintext, not a public @reply message. This is probably not really something you'd want to share with your friends. It's a personal and private direct message service.

To send a direct message using your mobile phone's text messaging capabilities,

  1. Create a new text message addressed to Twitter (40404)
  2. Type: d traintext request
  3. Make sure that you spelled traintext correctly and that you've included your request, such as station name or command like "alerts"
  4. Just send!
